PHILOSOPHY
The following elements of Christian education are listed in order of priority as determined by the leadership within the ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church and Christian School.
Home Relations
It is our firm conviction that proper training first begins in the home. The home is the first institution of God, and it is here that the child first
learns set patterns of behavior. There he learns how to respond to other individuals, either by playing with other children in his/her family or
those who live nearby. It is in the home that the child learns a value system of right or wrong. Once a child is taught proper discipline and respect at home, he is then ready to be formally educated and to develop the skills necessary to face life successfully.
Church
It is our conviction that God has also instituted His Church as the organism
directly responsible for the winning of the unsaved to Christ and the exhorting
and training of the saved. This includes the teaching of biblical principles
of living as found in the Holy Scriptures. We affirm that Christian children
must be taught respect for God, His Word, and the biblical principles of
His Word, by which we should live. We encourage our families to faithfully
attend church in order for us to achieve, together, the spiritual goals
that we desire our children to reach.
Academics
School is an institution set up by man for the education and training of our
children. A school should provide both an environment and a curriculum
conducive to effective learning. As a Christian school, it is our responsibility
to build Christian character in our students. We believe that there is
a natural need for well-defined boundaries governing their behavior. The
teacher in the classroom is the authority and must be upheld and respected
by the students and their parents. We expect our students to be honest
and to exercise personal initiative in class work and homework.
CURRICULUM
CURRICULUM – the primary curriculum publishers for LCS are ABeka
and Bob Jones. These are distinctively Christian curriculums with an educational
philosophy, which supports strong thinking skills.

DISCIPLINE
Discipline is a biblical term. The Bible says to parents concerning their children, “Bring
them (children) up in the nurture (discipline) and admonition of the Lord” (Eph.
6:4). If we are to honor, please, and obey our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
we must maintain an orderly and controlled environment. Our desire is to see
each student grow spiritually and to achieve academic excellence in an atmosphere
that is Christ-honoring.
